Sleep is Important
Thursday, January 27th, 2005Just got in, very tired. I will now go and collapse on my bed. More details to follow… but currently sleep is more important.
Bored with Gentoo
Sunday, January 23rd, 2005Yesterday I spent a load of my birthday money, on two more series of Star Trek TNG (two and four), Series 5 of Red Dwarf.
Broke some things today when I wiped the Debian install that I was trying to do on Neoseph. Debian took over GRUB and the computer didn’t like it when I formatted [...]
Cracking the Case
Saturday, January 22nd, 2005Skippy bought a laptop in a security case. It was very secure, he couldn’t get into it. We tried brute forcing it by trying all possible numbers on the 3 dial combo lock but we must have missed something. Then tried unscrewing the hinges which didn’t work. Finally I googled for some info on combo [...]
Seeing Stripes
Thursday, January 20th, 2005The university has decided to streamline their coursework submission procedure by having students stick barcodes on their work. Unfortunately they’re going to start charging for sheets of barcodes on Monday. There have been emails going around about students wanting a way to print off their own barcodes but the uni said it was too expensive [...]
A really good excuse
Tuesday, January 18th, 2005I had a odd dream, I found a “really good excuse” lying around on the floor. In the same way that in RPGs that you often find random items sitting around for no apparent reason and then the game announces “you have found <item>”.
Perhaps this idea should be part of a game I could exchange [...]
Partying canceled due to coursework
Wednesday, January 12th, 2005It’s my birthday today and I spending it working on coursework that is due in on Friday so that I can hopefully get it finished and be able to go out with the Termisoc guys tomorrow. I will probably be found hanging around the 24hr open access armed with a plentiful supply of caffeinated mints. [...]
Back to Uni
Sunday, January 9th, 2005What I’ve been doing…
On Friday Me, Skippy and Ben went to Exeter for the <name removed> meeting. Stuck around too late and got the car locked in the bloody car park. D’Oh! Had to call out the security guard to open the gate which cost £30.
I missed the Termisoc guys over Christmas. Seeing them again [...]
Firefox and Thunderbird
Friday, January 7th, 2005I’ve installed Firefox on my Linux partition also now. I realised I liked it better than the Mozilla suite after using it a lot on Windows over the past few days.
The SuSE partition now has apt4rpm on it too. I like apt-get it’s so easy.
apt-get install <shiny_new_software>
Then apt-get goes away and to get it and [...]
Picking at stuff
Thursday, January 6th, 2005I noticed today the strangely theraputic action of picking when I was removing wallpaper from the bathroom. Why is it that people like picking at things? or is it just me?
Website Improvements
Wednesday, January 5th, 2005The whole site is now XHTML 1.1!
If you’re using Firefox you should see a “live bookmark” icon in your browser (in bottom-right corner of window) for the RSS feed [http://gem.termisoc.org/blog.rss].
Thanks to Ben for writing the code for the RSS.
