I’m in a bad mood today. I was woken up by drilling and sawing because my dad is dismantling the bathroom which is right next to my room. My parents don’t understand why I sleep at odd times but then again they’re “day people” unlike me. I prefer the night, it’s quieter (good for coding) and I don’t have to worry about glare on my screen, also everyone else is asleep so they don’t interrupt me.
I’m finally getting around to doing the coursework for SOFT323 (Programming for Entertainment systems). I have to make a “Flying Tiger” in DirectX. We were given a tiger 3D mesh and had to make “wings” for it out of a separate mesh that gets rotated on every frame (in a flapping motion).
I really hate Microsoft Visual C++. I understand runtime errors and I understand compile time errors but my code crashed the compiler really badly, no error message and it required me to kill the application. I had to rewrite from scratch because I could find no way to fix it (finding the source of the problem without error messages is difficult).
I’ve been putting off doing the coursework because I don’t like booting into Windows. I know the more I use it the greater the chance of it breaking and I don’t fancy re-installing everything right now. When I get around to it I’m going to backup stuff (the stuff not normally backed up like my music collection), re-install Windows XP and SuSE (this time I’ll put it on the second HDD).
