Annoying the scientologists
Sunday, June 26th, 2005 at 9:03 pmThis has been a most interesting week.
Me, Ben, Ruth and Skippy went to the scientology shop and got a free stress test (actually we were there to annoy them). I didn’t let on about the things that I’ve heard about scientology.
Anyone considering paying the scientologists a visit should leave their cash at home (high pressure sales techniques) and take some friends with them. I recomend outnumbering them by at least 2 to 1. They are very good at twisting your words if you ever get into a debate with them (so make sure you correct them). The best weapon to use against them is knowledge and logic, you will find that they quickly change the subject when they inevitably manage to dig themselves into a hole.
The woman in the scientology shop claimed that scientology’s goal was to make people happy by disseminating their knowledge of how the mind works. I argued that if that was their only goal then they would give away the entire text of the Dianetics book for free over the internet instead of charging for it. I also surmised that if I posted scientology texts online I bet that I would be sued, which I know for a fact that Scientology has already been done to some people, even those using the text within copyright law’s fair-use provisions.
