Router Panic
Wednesday, August 24th, 2005I thought I’d broken my router today, the web interface didn’t show it’s usual “Connected” in the corner and none of the buttons worked. Turns out I disabled JavaScript on Firefox (to test pure css popup tooltips) and the router’s interface requires it.
Wireless Finally
Sunday, July 24th, 2005This post is coming to you over the airwaves from Cloud via Ben’s wireless PCMCIA card and Skippy’s access point. I have finally managed to get the card connected using ndiswrapper with the Windows XP drivers. Now I can write really pointless things here. Apologies to people who like the this blog to be technical, [...]
Laser Printer Rest in Pieces
Friday, July 1st, 2005Over a year ago I acquired a free second-hand laser printer. It was detected under Linux and looked to run OK, except that it had run out of toner. Being as I couldn’t afford the extortionate amount for a replacement toner cartridge I thought it’d be more fun to dismantle the thing and scrounge any [...]
Router Broke
Saturday, May 21st, 2005There was strange weather today. My parents went out somewhere about 25 miles away and it was fine and sunny, the sort of weather where you have a picnic outside whereas here at my house the weather was terrible, it was raining really hard and hailing with thunder and lightning! I think the weather has [...]
Laptop with GPS
Saturday, February 19th, 2005Today I’ve been wiring up my laptop to my GPS, a Garmin eTrex. I made the connector in the same way as the one I saw on this site from an old discount card. Using the technical specification from Garmin for the wiring I hooked this up to a 9-pin serial port connector. Thank you [...]
New Keyboard
Thursday, February 17th, 2005I’m feeling pretty good that I didn’t buy that new keyboard the other day. Today I acquired both a keyboard and monitor and the keyboard has a pound sign (the one I’m currently using is american layout).
Cracking the Case
Saturday, January 22nd, 2005Skippy bought a laptop in a security case. It was very secure, he couldn’t get into it. We tried brute forcing it by trying all possible numbers on the 3 dial combo lock but we must have missed something. Then tried unscrewing the hinges which didn’t work. Finally I googled for some info on combo [...]
New Network Cable
Monday, December 20th, 2004After almost pulling my router onto the floor several times early this morning I am currently making a longer network cable for my laptop. Network cable HOWTO. … Here is some text coming down my newly made cable. Now I should be able to sit in bed with my laptop and not worry about breaking [...]
New HDD for Neoseph
Sunday, November 28th, 2004Installed a new HDD in Neoseph it now has 2 x 120GB. The hard drive isn’t actually brand new it’s been sitting around in my room for a while gathering dust. The dust the inside the case was really bad, it doesn’t help being kept in my bedroom, all the soft furnishings give off a [...]
